The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him-- my father’s God, and I will exalt him! -Exodus 15:2 Hey y'all! First of all, thank you SO much for praying over my time with the Women's Fellowship a couple of weeks ago. It went so well and the spirit of God was definitely present. We've also had a couple of really good weeks at Ignite and Boy's Club. Last week, one of our toughest to love kids returned to Ignite after a pretty long absence. The night in general was absolutely chaotic between rowdy behavior, sassy attitudes, and a sense of overall unrest among the kids. But as we left St. James's fed-up and frazzled, I was reminded of why I'm here. I'm here to love those kiddos and teach them about how much Jesus loves them to the best of my ability. Some nights, doing life with them won't be pretty. But we have to trust that God is using the time we spend with them to glorify Him. Will you pray for patience and unity amongst us leaders so that we can continue to love the teens well? Also, pray for their hearts and protection from the culture they sometimes surround themselves with as they go about their weeks. I don't have much to report on in regards to Cornerstone from the past week or so. I've been ill and hiding out at home to avoid catching any more germs that my immune system can't quite deal with at the moment. I hope to be back and ready to rock-and-roll early next week. In the meantime, I'm learning how to see the mercy and joy that surrounds me in the mundane. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I HATE BEING STUCK AT HOME SICK. But God's totally using this time to teach me how to be still with Him and to seek joy. I chose to open with Exodus 15:2 this week because of the promise of victory that it hold and the choice I'm making to praise God even in this time. So, here's a list of things I'm finding joy in these days:
What are you missing? What are the joys that you keep forgetting to stop and see in your current battle? I guarantee He's surrounding you with 'em :) So, take heart! Hold tight to His promise of victory, and exalt Him even now. I'm praying His blessing over each of you today! With love, Britt |
